Balsamic Dijon Ham and Swiss Sliders

Sharing is caring!

Recently we made and posted our Instant Pot Balsamic Dijon Ham and it is incredible. However, we did have LOTS of leftover ham to use up. We decided to make this old favorite but with a twist. When I have made ham and cheese sliders in the past I use Worcestershire in the sauce. These Balsamic Dijon Ham and Swiss Sliders are made using, you guessed it, balsamic vinegar in the sauce. They were a hit for our family.

To make Balsamic Dijon Ham and Swiss Sliders you will need:

  • Leftover ham (or sliced deli ham)
  • 12 dinner rolls
  • 12 slices swiss cheese
  • 2 Tbsp. mayo, optional
  • 1 stick of butter, half a cup
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 2 tsp. dijon mustard
  • 2 Tbsp. dried minced onion
  • 2 tsp. balsamic vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. poppy seeds

ROLLS:

We used these white dinner rolls. A lot of people like to use Hawaiian Rolls for this type of slider, but I think they are too sweet. Use them if that’s what you like!

White Dinner Rolls

Let’s get these put together:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and then take the rolls and slice the entire thing in half without separating the rolls. A 9×13 pan is perfect to fit them in, just place the bottom half of the rolls into the pan and spread with a couple tablespoons of mayo. This is totally optional as they will still be very gooey and good without the mayo if you choose to omit it.

Next put the ham on top of the bread. We had some big, thick slices leftover  that we used, but you can also use thin sliced deli ham, just fold it over and put on each roll.

Layer the Swiss cheese on top next.

Now place the top half of the rolls on the cheese.

LET’S MAKE THE SAUCE:

For the sauce place the remaining ingredients in a microwave safe bowl.

Microwave for a minute or so until butter is melted and then stir. However, you can also heat this on the stove top if you prefer.

Spread the sauce evenly over the rolls.

Sprinkle tops with poppy seeds and again, this is totally optional.
