Homemade Pizza Rolls from scratch

These homemade pizza rolls are simple, tasty, and reheat so well! The potato flakes keep them super soft. Add whatever fillings you like.

Equipment

  • Stand mixer
  • Three Cookie Sheets

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup canola oil
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 5 cups hot water
  • 3/4 cup potato flakes
  • 3 tbsp yeast
  • 12 cups flour All purpose, or a mixture of AP and wheat.

TOPPINGS

  • 1 jar marinara sauce 24 oz.
  • 8 cups cheese mozzarella, colby jack, or both
  • Any combination of meat, fruit, veggies, you like. make sure meat is cooked.

Instructions
 

  • To your stand mixer add, oil, honey, salt, water, yeast, potato flakes, and 4 cups flour and mix well.
  • Slowly add remaining 8 cups of flour and mix until you have a smooth dough.
  • Butter a clean counter top, 3 cookie sheets and your hands.
  • Remove dough from mixer and place on buttered counter and cut into 3 equal pieces.
  • Roll each piece into large rectangles.
  • Spread the marinara evenly over each rectangle.
  • Top with cheese and desired toppings.
  • Roll starting at the wide side and pinch dough together at the end to seal.
  • Slice each long roll into 12 equal pieces.
  • Place 12 pizza rolls onto each of 3 buttered cookie sheets.
  • Let rise until double in size.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until lightly browned.
  • Serve warm, room temp, or cold. They freeze well and reheat well. We like them for school lunch and take them frozen in individual sandwich bags and they are defrosted by lunch time.
