We had a family get together a few weeks ago and I made several types of soup for dinner. My sister-in-law offered to bring some fresh homemade bread that she and her daughter were making. She brought this simple soft white bread and it was warm and so good! The kids devoured it and it was the perfect compliment to our soup. We all asked for the recipe and she got it sent right out.
Jump to RecipeWe have made this bread MANY times since. My mixer does all the work and my family can’t get enough of it. As we have been in quarantine due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and stores have been low on items such as bread, it has been nice to know that I can throw some together in no time. And, it’s so much better than store bought anyway!
What you will need for this Simple Soft White Bread:
- 2 cups warm water
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 3 Tbsp. melted butter
- 2 Tbsp. yeast
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 4 Tbsp. sugar
- 6-6 1/4 cups flour
Let’s get baking:
Add water and milk to bowl of stand mixer. Sprinkle on yeast and sugar and allow to sit for a few minutes.
Add butter and salt and mix slightly. Attach your dough hook and add flour and let your mixer do the work and mix on low for about 5 minutes.
*If you don’t have a stand mixer you can also just knead by hand for 5 minutes. It will be worth the effort. 🙂
Cover the dough with a clean cloth and allow to rise approximately 30 minutes until doubled.
Turn dough out onto a floured surface and separate into 3 equal pieces. Add flour as needed.
Form each piece into a loaf shape and place in a greased bread pans.
Cover and allow to raise again for one hour.
Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
Brush a little butter on the tops if you would like.
Let cool for a few minutes. Slice and enjoy!
