FLORAL CARROT DOOR HANGER

Sharing is caring!

This Floral Carrot Door Hanger is a quick craft and you just need a few items to make your own. I have seen lots of carrots similar to this made with tulips and they are so cute! Always trying to think outside the box here at Huckleberry Life so we decided to try this idea with artificial orange larkspur. We only needed 5 stems of flowers and bought them when they were 50% off at Hobby Lobby.

To make your own Floral Carrot Door Hanger you will need:

  • 5 stems artificial orange larkspur or similar flower

  • 2 bunches of “carrot like” greenery

  • Coordinating ribbon in a couple different patterns and sizes (and a helper to “organize” it for you)

  • Floral Wire
  • Wire Cutters

Let’s put this all together:

Start by laying out the middle flower.

Next you will want to bend the flowers that will be the outside of the carrot like so.

Lie the last two larkspur flowers in the spaces between the middle and outside and bend them until they look good. Cut a small piece of wire.

Use the wire to secure the flower tips together. The two flower stems on the sides should be up a couple inches from the bottom of the middle flower.

Now secure the tops of the flowers with wire as well. I chose to cut the flower stems after I did this, but it would probably have been easier to do it before.

Next wire the greenery to the top.  I left space for a big bow and kept the greenery on the stem rather than cutting it apart. Also, the larkspur blooms go all the way around the stem and you can just kind of pull them forward to fill in the little gaps until it looks good to you.

Wait, where did our little “helper” go??? Oh, there he is! Still being productive. Whew!

Now it’s time to make a bow! I started by making a bow out of the orange chevron ribbon, then decided it needed something behind it. Orange sparkle tulle was what I planned to use but decided on raffia for a more “earthy” feel. I should probably mention that none of my ribbon was wired and it would have looked better if it were.

For even more fun, I decided to add another layer to the bow with smaller ribbon in green and lace. You can make whatever type of bow you would like for your Floral Carrot Door Hanger. 🙂

Lastly, you will want to wire the bow to the carrot and you are all done! Easy peasy!

Now you can hang it on the door.

I just used a wire loop on the back.

It also looks cute on an old chicken wire cage door.

So now you need to teach the fine art of fancy schmancy bow tying. My bows never look like that!
