Cinnamon Swirl Bread

Sharing is caring!

This is the same base recipe that we use for our Simple Soft White Bread. The recipe makes 3 loaves of bread and we often make one Cinnamon Swirl loaf and two Simple Soft White loaves or vice versa.

Cinnamon Swirl Bread

What you will need to make Cinnamon Swirl Bread:

  • 2 cups warm water
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 3 Tbsp. melted butter
  • 2 Tbsp. yeast
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 4 Tbsp. sugar
  • 6-6 1/4 cups flour
  • 6 Tbsp. very soft butter
  • 6 Tbsp. cinnamon
  • 6 Tbsp. brown sugar

LET’S GET BAKING:

Add warm water and milk to bowl of stand mixer, then sprinkle on yeast and sugar and allow to sit for a few minutes.

Add butter and salt and mix slightly. Attach your dough hook and add flour and let your mixer do the work and mix on low for about 5 minutes.

*If you don’t have a stand mixer you can also just knead the dough by hand for 5 minutes. It will be worth the effort.

Dough after mixing 5 minutes.

Cover the dough with a clean cloth and allow to rise approximately 30 minutes or until doubled.

Beautifully risen dough.

Turn dough out onto a floured surface and separate into 3 equal pieces, adding additional flour as needed.

Sectioned bread dough.

Roll each section of dough out one at a time into a long rectangle and brush with 2 Tbsp of softened butter each. Try to roll the dough as wide as your loaf pan and 18 to 24 inches long. The longer and thinner you roll it out, the more swirls you will have.

Rolled out and buttered dough.

Sprinkle each rolled out section of dough with 2 Tbsp of the cinnamon and 2 Tbsp of the brown sugar.

Yummy cinnamon sugar.

Roll each section up.

Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’….

Pinch the end together with the roll and place seam down into greased loaf pan.

One cinnamon swirl loaf and two simple soft white bread loaves.

Cover and allow to raise for one hour or until doubled in size.

Ready to bake!

Ready to bake. Dough on the right is the cinnamon swirl.

Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Allow to cool for about 15 minutes. Slice and enjoy!

Beautiful swirls.
